What is Adult Day Health?
Adult day health care (ADHC) provides a safe, caring setting for adults that require supervision, structure and care during the day.
We offer skilled nursing care, recreational therapy, social services, physical and occupational therapy, nutritional support and transportation.

How do I pay for adult day health?Adult Day Health Care is covered by many insurance companies including MassHealth, most senior care options, Agespan (formerly Elderly Services of the Merrimack Valley) and the Veteran's Administration. We also offer reasonable private pay rates. If you have questions about financing adult day health, please contact us, and we will be happy to assist you.

How do I refer one of my clients to Home Away Lowell?We collaborate with many local agencies to provide adult day health services to their clients. The referral process is simple. Call Karen Bond Garrigan at (978)-453-4663 to discuss the details of your client. You can also complete our application and email to Karen@homeawaylowell.com or fax to (978)-970-3895, and she will be in touch to get the process started.

Do you serve food at the adult day health facility?Yes! We provide two meals per day (breakfast and lunch) as well as snacks throughout the day.

What activities do we offer?Our activity calendar is designed to engage the diverse population that we serve. We incorporate the individual talents of each of our activity staff members to offer a variety of activities touching on the preferences of each participant. Our calendar is changed monthly to include seasonal activities and outings as well as new programs within the building. We have many activity spaces including a game room, library, exercise room, media room and two large activity rooms. Whether you like upbeat singing and dancing, or relaxing with a movie or book, we have a space for everyone. Some of the offerings of our talented activity staff include Activities include: • ceramics • community outings to restaurants and shopping • exercise, as appropriate • computer classes • games • arts and crafts • holiday parties • singing and dancing • Spanish club • Khmer philosophy classes • poetry writing • pool • music therapy • day trips • themed celebrations • air hockey • dominoes • Religious services in multiple languages The activities and programming reflect the diverse needs of participants and their levels of functioning. What’s unique about Home Away From Home?Our program is designed to represent the diversity of the people we serve. Our population is diverse in culture, age and programming. For some care-recipients, we offer a much needed medical support. For others, we offer structured social support. In all cases, Home Away From Home offers the services needed to allow people to continue living in their home settings and communities. ​ As your Home Away From Home, we offer many services that are difficult for our care-recipients to obtain on their own. Some of these services include: Transportation to and from medical appointment Nutritionally balanced meals Community outings Physical and occupational therapy Relaxation Rooms The size and layout of Home Away From Home allows for multiple activities to occur at the same time, so you have a variety of choices throughout the day.
